User Reviews for Windy APP
I really wish I had had this plethora of information this app provides when I was forecasting for a living in the Navy oh so many years ago. And it’s all free!! The radar isn’t as fine granular as in some other apps, but it is world wide!! I didn’t eve know China had weather radar!! And when I was forecasting I didn’t have the access to all the different models that this app provides. This app is actually slightly better than the web-based app, which has a few frustrating glitches. Using this app, I was able to determine accurately that weren’t going to get snow or freezing rain this morning but rather a short period of ice pellets. I couldn’t have pulled it off with the tools that I had available to me 30 years ago.

App is pretty good but widget won’t display using Imperial units that I’m used to as an American, so this is a deal breaker for me. I set the units in the app when opening it the 1st time, so idk why those same settings don’t configure in the widget.
Hands down the best weather app out there. And $30 for a whole year? what a deal! Occasionally I’ll go boating and fishing with my friends and when I do we always use the windy app to check the forecast because it is extremely accurate. It gives you different models to choose from so you can compare. It has at least 50 different layers for things like wind, sea state, sea temperature. everything. And even if you don’t pay for the year subscription, the free version is awesome as well!
Good app
It is an excellent application easy to foreseen weather changes.
I have the windy app on my phone which works great, but I recently put it on my tablet and it is extremely glitchy. The screen keeps going fuzzy and then the app crashes after a while. I am using a Lenovo 8
Most accurate weather app I have used
Generally answered my questions
I really wanted to use this app, and came really close to purchasing the premium subscription. The large weather maps and animated wind patterns, plus all the other interesting layers that are available are nothing short of amazing. But the tiny fonts and tiny controls are just too hard to use. I mean I can manage, but it’s uncomfortable, Even worse, there is no option to adjust this. The developers are essentially leaving out everyone without perfect eyesight.
this app can help a lot for me
Am in a bushfire prone area. It’s great for showing active hot spots. Plus the weather satellite is brilliant.
Wind gust predictions are often inaccurate. More than once, in the last two months, the winds/gusts have been significantly higher or lower than predicted. I count on these predictions for going fishing.
Although it defaults to wind, you can track the weather– the precipitation, the snow accumulation, etc – and you can get a ten day forecast that shows temperature fluctuations across the bottom of the screen. There are so many selections to choose from, including different forecast models. I consider the premium app to be worth it, and much more useful/detailed than other weather apps!!

The visualization is good and the possibility to compare different models is great. However, it’s a pity you can’t pay for a premium subscription only for a month – or per day or week – because I only need the accuracy during holidays for outdoor activities…
Great app, but a 22% price hike this year (2025), really?
superb app. always spot on with the wind forecasts. my only complaint is when i go to a favorite, it doesn’t remember my zoom level.
This app is good also a useful tool for tracking different storms in different parts of the world, but there’s one thing that makes it not 5 stars. This is the color representing the wind speed. The color scale needs to be more broad. For example. The purple. I see what looks like a storm is purple, but is it the low purple wind speeds? OR The storm level high purple wind speeds? One of the purple colors in the scale needs to be replaced. You can’t have 1 color represent 2 different things!
Seems to have everything a weather hobbiest could want. Unfortunately opening the radar freezes the app. Samsung SM-T670
09.13.2024. A.D. This app has been good to us especially on our tablets. No real complaints except when we using WiFi app start up too slow also making favorites camera stations have to be paid for on premium version it wasnt like that before. Those are reasons why only 3 stars.
I find Windy provides invaluable information for my hobby of dinghy sailing. The display of data makes it much easier to visualise the conditions in the estuary.
