I really wish I had had this plethora of information this app provides when I was forecasting for a living in the Navy oh so many years ago. And it’s all free!! The radar isn’t as fine granular as in some other apps, but it is world wide!! I didn’t eve know China had weather radar!! And when I was forecasting I didn’t have the access to all the different models that this app provides. This app is actually slightly better than the web-based app, which has a few frustrating glitches. Using this app, I was able to determine accurately that weren’t going to get snow or freezing rain this morning but rather a short period of ice pellets. I couldn’t have pulled it off with the tools that I had available to me 30 years ago.

windy apps is great, it’s useful for us that is living near and traveling along the sea.
Even the best weather app is very poor when support is only allowed to verify my account using a single method. I sent a screenshot of my active subscription in Google Play, but that wasn’t good enough. Support must have an invoice. I tried following the instructions they sent for finding my invoice, but the instructions appear to be for the old web-based version of Google Pay. Bottom line? I can’t find an invoice. I’ve wasted too much time. So, just forget it. I have canceled my subscription.
Best all in one weather app with 12h radar history, 1y archive, 8d precipitation history, current air, water temp, dust layer, snow maps, hurricane tracker and much much more easy to use with the pinned items. Reasons for only 4 stars: – radar history and especially lightning history very very low detail level – pinned items sometimes unreachable off the screen (bug) – rain radar future prediction super basic and pretty much useless compared to many other (even free) apps.

I am completely obsessed with this app!! As a weather junky living in an area w/quickly changing weather, I’ve found Windy is shockingly accurate. I’m embarrassed to say, but I currently have 5 weather apps on my phone, and after giving Windy a month, I’m ready to get rid of 3😁. Plus, it’s the prettiest app. and on windy days, I take screenshots for the pictures. I’m waiting for the perfect windy day screenshot to blow up and hang on my wall. And I’m being completely serious.
It would be more useful if you kindly also put the % of rain forecast for every day.
Thought I’d reviewed this… the broken widget problem continues to to ruin what used to be a great 5 star app.
This is by far the best weather app. I’ve been using it for about five years or so and it was good when I first started using it but with the continuous updates it is the only weather app I would consider using. All the weather information you could ask for, plus air quality maps, drought monitoring, fire risk, tides, and numerous other weather and climate related maps. You can also customize to fit your exact needs Try it to experience how good it really is.
I am retired master mariner since I used this app it’s very useful for me to forecast weather conditions to inform my crew members those were onboard sailing through world wide.
One of the best weather forecast apps. Many layers you can keep watch on, and several models you can use. Offers the ECMWF for free, which is extremely rare. But there are more features behind a premium subscription so… Also, if you go on the desktop version, you can create custom colors for layers which will transfer to your phone, if you are logged into the same account. Really cool! I recommend this app.
Windy, where have you been? As a weather nerd, I’ve tried many different weather apps, but somehow never knew about Windy until today. It is the best weather app I’ve ever used. Wind is just the beginning — it covers heat thermals, air quality, weather forecasts, radar maps, etc. Such intelligent design! Incredibly customizable. And a real bargain for the premium features, although the free version is so much more than most weather apps. The only weather app you’ll need. ❤️

Great app, extremely useful when the local weather predictions on apps are lacking or completely wrong. With this app you can make your decisions. This app has saved multiple engagements due to its accuracy.
Great app for a grapical visual model data. I used to love it when more was free. Now, I have to find more free sites and apps to find what I want. For example, radar archives only an hour is a bust. I like going back in time. Satellite images I like elsewhere. There’s plus and minus. Overall, it was a great app.
Pro version features do not work well. I’ve been using this for the last 2 months every day solo sailing the Bahamas and the wind is always at least 3kts more than it shows even in real time. most annoying, is half the time I cannot just go to my location and have to find it on the map. Planning a route doesn’t work for me because I can’t click on where I set the time
I originally down loaded “windy.app” by mistake. This app is exactly what I need and only 40MB. I’m an avid two string stunt Kite flying person. I need to know when the wind will have a high average with low gusts for consistency in my Line tension and tail length. The other app was ok but made more for fishermen and hunters with weather cycles, migration patterns and fish nesting spots. The other app was a gig of storage and subscription plans up to 200$. I’m glad I have the right app now
Great app with plenty of data. I’ve been using for over a year. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is there are bugs far too frequently. For a while the lightning wasn’t working, it happened again somewhat recently but overall good now. Widgets have been constantly buggy though. For one it keeps converting to either light or dark mode and I need to switch back to system default. Also keeps needing to be reloaded and often goes blank or data loading. Now they only load in Celsius. Need a fix for 5 star
