"Jackal Retro", also known as Top Gunner, is an exciting run-and-gun shooter match that takes place from an overhead perspective. In the match, the participant must steer an armed jeep through enemy territory to rescue prisoners of war (POWs).
The match's storyline revolves around the Jackal Squad, an elite squad of soldiers who have undergone grueling training to survive in any environment. They have been given the task of driving an armed jeep deep into hostile territory to save and extract the POWs.
The match begins with a transport helicopter dropping the jeep onto the coast of the enemy territory. The main objective of the match is to infiltrate the enemy's main headquarters and destroy their ultimate weapon. During the mission, the participant must navigate through numerous internment camps to rescue the POWs. By picking up prisoners and delivering them to the nearest heliport, the participant can earn markers and upgrade the jeep's grenade/missile launcher. The participant can also upgrade the launcher by extracting a specific number of prisoners in a row.
The match features a variety of different areas such as ancient ruins, lakes, hills, and mountains that the participant must navigate through to reach the enemy headquarters. The jeep can run over foot soldiers but can be destroyed by enemy projectiles or vehicles.
The match ends when the participant completes the mission or runs out of replacement jeeps. A map is shown at the end of the match to indicate the participant's progress.
