User Reviews for Windy APP

I really wish I had had this plethora of information this app provides when I was forecasting for a living in the Navy oh so many years ago. And it’s all free!! The radar isn’t as fine granular as in some other apps, but it is world wide!! I didn’t eve know China had weather radar!! And when I was forecasting I didn’t have the access to all the different models that this app provides. This app is actually slightly better than the web-based app, which has a few frustrating glitches. Using this app, I was able to determine accurately that weren’t going to get snow or freezing rain this morning but rather a short period of ice pellets. I couldn’t have pulled it off with the tools that I had available to me 30 years ago.

I was really happy with this app when I first got it. I feel like now that they’re pushing the subscription model, it’s lacking. For example – it can pull weather from 4-5 different sources, some more accurate than others. However, it never remembers the choice and defaults to the same one. Just today there is a 5 degree difference in the forecasted high between this and accuweather. I tried to choose the option that was closer, but nothing changed.– note to dev- I paid for the old Windy app.

Not very clever move. The particles animation does not work on my tablet and now the view in a browser is grayed out after 6 days. How am I supposed to use Windy now? Maybe time to look for another product? (Premium user…)

Great app, widgets need work! Most of my interaction with this app is with the widget, I have a pixel 3 and there is just too much info in the 4×1 widget, instead of 8 temp, sunshine, wind numbers for each day maybe consider less so that the numbers don’t have to be so small, I do love all the info but it’s a pain to read, even when I stretch the widget larger nothing changes. Perhaps I’m missing an option somewhere? Also I’d like a rain % rating somehow, maybe the cloud icons are based on %?

a reliable and enjoyable, I’ve used this platform for years. it is in my opinion very reliable. there are also many different layers and filters. if you take some time to explore the app it’s very interesting what you can find out and discover. you can also use the web platform . I upgraded to the full version and honestly it is well worth it.

Is it me, or is it silly that there is a scale for the wind speed defined with a range of colors, but the actual map never changes color. It’s the length of the lines that varies with the wind.

I love this app. While it does numerous things including giving readings of air quality, I use it to visually identify wind direction at certain points in the day. This is useful for my long-distance running, helping me figure out which way to run to avoid head winds. So why only four stars? It’s estimation on wind speeds (both forecast and present) is wildly inaccurate to the point of being useless if that is what you want it for. But, in all other respects, it is a great tool.

Great content, unstable app. When I open the radar loop in the app it will run for a couple of minutes then the app crashes closes without an error code when it tries to update the loop.

Very rich information but the character sizes are too small to read. They need to generate a pop up or a zoom in upon click to enhance the readability of the information

The best app to weather the storm! All of the hurricane threats have been much more manageable for us in South Florida by using this for tracking. Thank you, I share this with everyone I know during hurricane season.

Don’t get me wrong I love windy more than any other service. However I’m giving 3/5 stars because the Android widgets need work, there is no reason a widget needs unrestricted battery access, constant GPS access, and always on notifications. Especially considering other competitive app widgets can operate just fine without those. At the very least make those settings optional, not all users need that level of precision.

Spontaneously changed from MPH to BFT. Is there a gesture I accidentally did or something? Either way, that shouldn’t happen. Edit: very much so. I wouldn’t have complained about it if it wasn’t set. Maybe there’s a tiny button that I didn’t notice on who main screen or something? This app isn’t very intuitive even for tech savvy people but I understand you have to present that plethora of options and information somehow.

It makes me so mad that I can only zoom out so far. Might consider going premium when they enable you to zoom out further. It would be nice to be able to see the whole earth at once.🤷‍♂️ It helps to understand the bigger picture.
