User Reviews for Windy APP
I really wish I had had this plethora of information this app provides when I was forecasting for a living in the Navy oh so many years ago. And it’s all free!! The radar isn’t as fine granular as in some other apps, but it is world wide!! I didn’t eve know China had weather radar!! And when I was forecasting I didn’t have the access to all the different models that this app provides. This app is actually slightly better than the web-based app, which has a few frustrating glitches. Using this app, I was able to determine accurately that weren’t going to get snow or freezing rain this morning but rather a short period of ice pellets. I couldn’t have pulled it off with the tools that I had available to me 30 years ago.

great app. when is Android Auto going to get the windy app? Update: Your reply in no way answered my question.
Very informative with multilayers. Wish could adjust font size and simplify hi/low 5day forecast.
Awesome app. Free tier is amazing.
Very good, but for one thing…my vision has been drastically reduced. Fonts are not easy to scale and it is very awkward to use a magnifying glass. Considering the power of modern tablets this is a shame as low vision people cannot see everything in your astounding app. Perhaps a selection of fixed fonts that operate independently from auto zoom. Thank you, George K.
I use it to plan my sailplane flying a week in advance. It has proven to be quite accurate on wind direction and velocity as each day develops. what I mainly like is the clear depiction of isobars and fronts, as each week develops.
A great weather app with a wealth of information. Not all of it is easy to find, but it is there. For those who want more detail in their weather forecast.
(/Still/ having widget issues with “current location.” I’m leaving a review while I’m re-downloading the app. Tedious, but it seems to solve the issue for a while.) Great app. Definitely download it and figure it out. It’s a great app for data nerds. I’d ask for a UX redesign though, I feel we’re centimeters away from the finish line. And I’ve had it turn my friends off of the service, but they are happy to use the web app on a computer.
not real easy to figure out but i learn something everything I use it. that was my first review after trying it out I payed $70 for the pro version which is what they advertise everywhere and after they took my money nothing changed from the free version. they show all kinds of things for fishing in their adds but I sure don’t get them.
I’ve compared this to the Apple product. I won’t say the name but if you’re a pilot, you should be familiar with it. This product is every bit as good and IT’S FREE! Of course I do make a donation from time to time. I’ve found this GPS very reliable. Since I mostly fly VFR I’m not certain how well the satellite coverage will be with heavy clouds in the area. But overall, after 3 years of use, I love it and couldn’t imagine flying without it!
My number 1 weather app. Retired meteorologist here. The ability to view multiple models and compare them so easily makes this the handiest of all the weather apps I use.
Sometimes, the radar didn’t show a real hit on my place.
very handy and understandable, perfect for sailors.
I love windy and use the mobile app and the desktop/web app extensively. One area for improvement that i would appreciate is the ability to turn lighting sounds off by default as well as different options or sources for the doppler. The doppler radar with the “smooth look” looks nice but does not always accurately show whats actually happening. I have found accuweather to be more percise in this manner. Thank you very much.
very useful for us,
It’s changed! Where is the Satellite/Radar gone? It was my favorite layer!
I live in New Orleans and pay close attention to the weather, especially during hurricane season! I have been using the Windy app for 5 years, and during these years, I have tracked multiple storms, and this app is AMAZINGLY accurate! such a help with planning and deciding to stay or evacuate.
Good app but I can’t pay for the premium I don’t know why
Right now it’s been updating widgets for 2 days hopefully that will be fixed soon so I can reinstall it.
great app if you’re a weather nerd. provided global scale information. limited loca predictions
One of my favorite weather apps! However, it would be great to see improvement in the maps formatting, zoom map scroll feature on android. For example, When I check radiation areas in certain areas and try to zoom out (by ” pinching”) on the map for a broader view, the map will only zoom out so far when you lift your fingers off the map, it retracts back to where it was previously- that’s not quite so UI friendly…but overall excellent app.
