User Reviews for TP-Link Tether APP

I agree with Withkeys Quilkert. “It does what it does best. Access to the router configuration through the cloud as well as locally on network in an easy GUI. However, more needs to be done to secure access to it besides just a password for cloud account. They need to allow multi-factor authentication and track logins to the cloud account. Until they address that, I do not recommend allowing the wifi router access over the cloud. Once password is compromised, it gives unauthorized users access.

recently purchased this wifi extender and very impressed. it works really well. super easy to set up Also. one thing I did notice is scheduled power off doesn’t seem to work at all. I have it set for certain days and times. but it doesn’t seem to work right. it sometimes turns off but won’t turn back on at set time

worked well and customizable for my clients. Only issue is for my Google home mini’s can’t change the icon from a game controller (app’s default) to the one with 3 dots (look similar to the Google mini). Will allow other icons to be used.

Shows your clients connected but no real settings changes, like broadcast strength or time change that would be usefull

It’s very nice simple and quick but it lacks the advanced options like mac filtering or bandwidth control. i hope they add them in the next update. thanks for caring🌹

App works well beyond my expectations. I especially like that I can rename and recategorize connected devices so that I know exactly which device is which and at what frequency they’re connecting. That’s essential for keeping track of your internet of things environment.

Good range extender but if you ain’t got it close enough to you router it loses signal alot and has to be factory reset and reprogrammed to start working again but works as it should

Nice, simple and useful. But the last update did something weird,. As a range extender, now the gateway is listed as a wired client. And actual wired client is not listed at all. Which is not right

Works good for monitoring your router. If you need to go to advanced settings it tells you to log in through the ip address, so not comprehensive for all controls.

Works but have issues. For instance it does not support UTF8 symbols for network names which is a no problem for either the router itself or the extender’s built-in configuration webpage. IFTTT does not load at all. Also happened to me to desync and the initial device setup didn’t went smoothly. Found that directly connecting to the device by IP is easier to work with as you don’t have to rely on intermediate app that does the same and have bugs of its own.

There remain bugs, which I hoped would have been addressed long ago. When I open the app, the Extended Networks button shows nothing. When I tap the button and exit from that screen, it shows 2g and 5g. Also, many times it will say that there is no internet connection, until I tap on the Network Status button. Then it will say it’s online and working well. Despite the erroneous readings, it functions well. Just wish they’d address these longstanding bugs.

using the Tether app made set up easy. the only hiccup I had was the modem would not talk to the new router because it did not match the mac address. sometimes a modem power off for 15 minutes will clear the block OR just clone the Mac addy from the old router.

The app is really good and easy to use. It would be great to have a bonus time to add on devices when it’s run out without modify the time scheduled

Wow, just wow. So seemless and painless to connect to all my devices. I was confused trying to login manually to various repeaters via IP addresses and the like, then I installed this app (even though I was fairly certain it would confuse matters more). All of a sudden I could see every device, its model name, and an icon showing its physical appearance! Nothing could be simpler. If all apps were this easy we’d achieve world peace in a fortnight.
