User Reviews for TP-Link Tether APP

I agree with Withkeys Quilkert. “It does what it does best. Access to the router configuration through the cloud as well as locally on network in an easy GUI. However, more needs to be done to secure access to it besides just a password for cloud account. They need to allow multi-factor authentication and track logins to the cloud account. Until they address that, I do not recommend allowing the wifi router access over the cloud. Once password is compromised, it gives unauthorized users access.

Works extremely well. Have had no issues with my router and have boosted my wifi throughout the house. One minor disappointment is the client list, in that it doesn’t always read details from connected clients. Requires me to check mac addresses to identify some clients. It would be better if I could interrogate the client from within the app.

What exactly is the point of this app being able to notify you if a new device has joined the network if when you click on that notification, it doesn’t tell you which of the connected clients is new? Otherwise the remote config stuff is pretty good and per IP rules are good although it would be nice if you could shut off internet access completely to all but the client you’re using the app on.

Christina me out randomly, so you have to keep rebooting it, very much like a smartphone mobile phone or tablets devices etc…when it works, wow, what a relief!!! But when it doesn’t well! #frustration!!

Overall experience is good, it would be better if the app can tell instantly if the main router’s password is wrong instead of proceeding to the connection. something to look forward to.

No longer shows clients on Archer C4000 Tri-band. Worked fine before last update. Works great on RE450 Extender otherwise I would give it one star.

Very simple to use and works. At first I just explored it, a few minutes later I selected the options I needed, it told me it needed a reboot, rebooted and everything worked as it should. It was much easier than using the actual router to set everything up. I haven’t signed up to their security. I haven’t heard good things about that and it’s just another subscription on top of ever increasing, ever pricier subscriptions to various things in my home.

There is a problem. The cloud management service is not working on AX15 with a mesh device Archer C64 as a satellite node. I’m trying to login with my cellular mobile data network and it continues freezing and then it automatically Log itself out. I am facing this problem for the last 3 versions and still facing it. Plz solve this issue as soon as possible.

Easy to use and set up device for first timers without much knowledge about networking. Controlling the router becomes lot easier with reboot option especially when your router is old and multiple home devices are connected to the same wifi network. Had a little difficulty understanding the steps after I reset my old router to default factory setting and setting it back again. Otherwise the app is good snd clutter free.

Most definitely extends strengthens network! Was a little frustrating fiddly setting up just as others stated. Only gripe and reason for 4/5 stars? My other extenders let me set my own password to use the extenders network rather than the same password as used for the network. This is super important in a shared household where multiple ppl are trying to leech off my extender. The block feature is a workaround, but I’d prefer they couldn’t log onto the extenders network initially. Cheers!

Just Try and match up the right icon with the right device. Real wanting in overall visual of your network every drill down goes to a form or list type screen. Not even as slick as the on chip router interface or as slick as netgrear jeanie
