User Reviews for TP-Link Tether APP
I agree with Withkeys Quilkert. “It does what it does best. Access to the router configuration through the cloud as well as locally on network in an easy GUI. However, more needs to be done to secure access to it besides just a password for cloud account. They need to allow multi-factor authentication and track logins to the cloud account. Until they address that, I do not recommend allowing the wifi router access over the cloud. Once password is compromised, it gives unauthorized users access.

Constantly asks me to enter my device password. The password has remained unchanged and when I try to log in using the saved password, it will say it’s incorrect until all of a sudden it decides on the fifth attempt that “oh actually that’s right this time!’. It has resulted in me being locked out from the device settings multiple times because it doesn’t want to recognize the password before it reaches the max failed attempts.
The app is pretty good but has room for improvement. #1. A dark Theme would be great for people who prefer to use that. #2. It would be great if we could edit the following router settings; Change the channels, Adjust the bandwidth, and maybe even import and export the list of clients. #3. An app system backup and import feature saved as a .bin file. That way, we could restore the app data if anything goes wrong.
very good
Sometimes I have to reset it, so it’s not a perfect score.
Update. Every time that I want to view the router, I click on it and then it says I’m not connected to the network. Update. Still not fixed. Why do they want you to pay a subscription when the features never work. Most features don’t work all of the time. It’s very hit or miss for the controls. Worked marginally OK before, now it’s worse. It’s very slow to start and sync to wifi. I’m not sure what app some of these other people are leaving reviews for but they have to be fake or paid.
Excellent App,Excellent Service not soo bad it’s do by it’s own nice it’s ok
Very easy setup with this app.
Works. Smooth, simple straightforward to setup and diagnose my TPLink WiFi repeater. Shows signal in out. Gives just enough information to make you the master of the repeater. Again: simple and straightforward. Recommended if you have a TPLink repeater… Now have AC3200 router as well and ap works seamlessly with it.
App is good, considering you really shouldn’t have to use it that often. However, the name on the icon is “tether”, thus, if you do need the app, you have to remember that it is not actually labeled in such a way that you can scan through your apps and say, “look, there is the TP-Link app”. It will also not show up in an app search if you try to use TP-Link as keywords.
Unecessary bugs not worked out as yet. I still keep getting the message that there is no internet connection, which is wrong. This was not there in the earlier versions. I wish I could roll back the app
Mostly great. There’s a bug with setting devices as High Priority, though. It prompts you to set QoS first, which I’ve done several times, but still no luck. You also need to set total bandwidth apparently, which isn’t obvious until you click Edit. But even after doing both of those things, still no dice on setting a device as High Priority.
Easy to use. Does the job. Just wish the wifi password would be hidden instead of displayed! That’s very basic security. Update that and you get 5 stars.
I downloaded this app because the normal Archer C7 link used to allow Client Names editable. An update has removed this facility, i.e poor updating. The TP LINK APP allows client name editing, but only for some clients. Not all. This app does not see some clients at all. Other APPS can see them = TP LINK software error in this App. The PC APP did edit client names but not now. Please make this app LANDSCAPE and put PC editing of clients back again. Thank you.
excellent app.
Why can’t I do all the features in app? Whenever I try and use the Web page I get constant errors saying I’m not connected to a TP-Link device even though I am. Makes things like assigning static IPs and restricting bandwidth per device much more difficult. Just put these features in the app
As a complete novice I followed the instructions and, though it took a few attempts I got there in the end. Quite pleased with myself at 75.
Generally works well, until software is changed and then its a hassle finding out why the router no longer functions?
I am ok with it
Very easy to navigate. The developers kept it simple yet maintained the basic functions of remote operation. I would like to see a slightly more advanced section in the app for the more advanced users and hopefully that could be implemented in time. I’m pretty confident in saying that one of the reasons there isn’t an advanced section is that it could possibly do more harm than good with the lesser experienced users trying to modify their hardware without knowledge. All in all, a very good app.
so far it seems to work. this is a good thing. i recently changed an option but I don’t think it works. the LED indicator has not gone out yet
