SO FAR I like this sound meter, however I have to run it next to my Amprobe SM-20(ANALOG) and my Fluke-945 (DIGITAL) to check its authenticity as relevant to reliability! In regards to ADS in the app, any ad is disruptive but these are really not in anyones way, but yes there are ads! What I REALLY DON’T LIKE in this tool is icons that lead me into other apps (compass, vibration meter) that I REALLY DON’T want added in my sound meter app!! BUT, I do like having this sound meter tool in my phone, that way as a professional audio engineer and drummer I always have a sound meter with me!!!😁

    Good that the app is free and ads are non intrusive, but I seriously question the accuracy of the app though, especially considering different models of device have different microphone configurations and calibrations. On my Samsung, 70db is probably closer to 85db. I know there is an option to change the calibration which is a good thought, but since dB is exponential, you can’t simply add/subtract a set amount of dB.

    Trying to find a noise meter that worked every time, worked consistently quickly was difficult, but here it is. Several of these utilities are good. The bad ones outnumber the good. Then there’s the group this app is in. Well, not sure if you can call it a ‘group’ since this one is sitting alone on top of the gold medal platform where the apps that out-perform all others are and ain’t no one else very close! THANK YOU!

    No way this is accurate, my big fan on fill blast is insanely loud. The app says the room is only at 40-42db max. The ac unit I am planning on buying says at max it is 65db. No way in heck can it be that loud with a fan 1/10th the size and speed. I will try to remember to report back on my results when I do buy it.

    App cannot override detection limits of microphone and sounds above ~67db as indicated on the meter. I got this app to test volumes in movie theaters and meter would remain pegged and failed to determine volumes beyond built in leveling limits of the phones recording delimiters. I suspect that this would be an issue with most, if not all phones.

    Seems fine. Has a graph and the actual number. Not sure how frequently it samples, seems 2 or 3 times a second. Nice description of the different sound levels. 60 decimal shows as normal conversation. I’m using it to check alarm clock volumes so far they’re all 60-decibel; seems pretty low. Already returned two clocks as too quiet to disturb my slumber. Hope this one works better.

    The app is OK, for what it does. But it has been out since 2015, and should be fleshed out more. It needs selectable weighting curves, it needs to record samples to allow comparisons. Very good that it allows calibration, but should include a how to calibrate. With the above additions it would be worth a no ad paid version.

    Very nice app. Simple and to the point. I like that. I find it really useful and I learn a lot that I would not suspect on my own about the sounds that surround us. I only rate it 4 stars because it forgets the cllibration when I close the app. Then next time I open it I have to recalibrate to the same level. I would like to see it improved

    Appears to work well. Haven’t calibrated it vs. a regular sound meter.
