Was told about this app when visiting the famous Bowes Museum in County Durham today and immediately downloaded it and tried it out. It’s brilliant. Worked perfectly (after It’s scanned you have to swipe down and left to get the info about that picture). I’m amazed at all the poor reviews but this seems mainly because of wrong expectations. It’s intended to work as an info guide for the paintings in that particular museum/gallery. It tells you loads about each painting, including pictures of other paintings by the same artist in that particular gallery. Suddenly going to an art gallery got really interesting for me! Please rate it for what it sets out to do, not what you’d thought it might do.

    It’s a cool app, but scans made as an anonymous logged out user all get lost after logging in, with no warning. Pity.

    The library of art is big, and growing. Remember when I got the app when it was new. Hugely enjoyable now as it was then. What is lacking is more contemporary art.

    I was searching museums around me in Turkey and got nothing then realized there isn’t any places listed in many countries, this app seemed they’ve got it all but now that I realised they’ve a lot to improve.

    It does not always work, and the nag rating screen is annoying. But the idea is good, and it works 80 percent of the time.

    I use it to listen to the audio guide in the Acropolis museum. I really wish there was an option to control the speed of the audio, so I can listen to it faster. This would be a great improvement.

    Smartify is a brilliant app. Scan the picture and get do much more information, and much easier to read than the typical museum explanation board.

    I was trying to find who had made the original artwork to a print I had just bought and it took me maybe 1 minute to get into the app and have it focus despite being in a car right now. 10/10 will probably use again when I fall in love with yet another painter from the 1800s!
