Was told about this app when visiting the famous Bowes Museum in County Durham today and immediately downloaded it and tried it out. It’s brilliant. Worked perfectly (after It’s scanned you have to swipe down and left to get the info about that picture). I’m amazed at all the poor reviews but this seems mainly because of wrong expectations. It’s intended to work as an info guide for the paintings in that particular museum/gallery. It tells you loads about each painting, including pictures of other paintings by the same artist in that particular gallery. Suddenly going to an art gallery got really interesting for me! Please rate it for what it sets out to do, not what you’d thought it might do.

    I love this app. Every night, I read about a different painting and then check to see what the write-up is on this app has to say about it. The photos are better than those in the guide books I brought in the various museums I have visited. Smartify is versatile in that there are many different ways to use it. I just wish I could further enlarge the art reproductions.

    This app has a large amount of good information but I paid two dollars for access to the Metropolitan tour and it took my money and did not give access and there is no way to contact anyone.

    Lots of content and information on art, its history and location. Along with styles and what famous art was created during that age.

    It’s a pretty good app, but it would be cool to get suggestions on artworks and artists based on your favorites

    Quite like it, but frustrating that even while playing videos the screen goes goes off even when sound is still continues. Surely smartify should “know” to tell my phone that it is still operational and the screen is required to stay ON while it is tramsitting a video! This seems like a major flaw!

    I just installed the app…and it is great .they have almost every art information and you can even use their scan feature for art identification ..love it

    I didn’t even get to use it! Upon opening it let me type in my email and a password to create account, but the next page asks for your first name and last name. I typed it in, hit continue and both first and last name boxes highlighted red and said these fields are required. Ummm. My name is typed in there. So I deleted and retried 2 more times, and got the same error. There is no help or anything on that page, so I uninstalled the app! Thank you for nothing!

    Only identified about half the images I tried. Did not recognize Richard Diebenkorn, John Twachtman, Picasso two others I know should be recognizable as they appeared on JAMA.

    This is such an informative and interesting app. I wouldn’t consider myself an Art enthusiast at all, i’ve just had a general admiration of it. But this app has really made me feel more involved and i love it!

    I listened to audio of people that work on Tower Bridge describing it’s history, and workings. very interesting and i enjoyed listening to all the different accents. well worth a listen even if you are not on the Bridge

    I’m new to using, but its forcing me to hold still while it actively tries to identify the painting. It would be nice to just load a picture for it to review

    This is an excellent app – up to a point. You can no longer search using your location or on a map. So while the content is great it’s now much harder to find tours, galleries etc near your specific location. Bring back the map!

    Wonderful concept and once you find things, a joy. However, the search and sorting functions are not so. Would be 5 stars otherwise.
