"EHTERAZ" is the official contact tracing app for Qatar approved by the Ministry of Public Health. Its purpose is to protect the health of citizens, residents, and visitors by preventing and reducing the spread of COVID-19. The app provides alerts when users are exposed to a suspected, infected, or confined person, a visual QR code indicating infection and/or vaccine status, identifies high infection rate areas, and delivers official announcements and statistics. "EHTERAZ" uses only the necessary amount of personal data and device permissions required to protect citizens' privacy. The app requires permission for Bluetooth signals, background location services, permission to write to the file system, and local device storage. When two registered users come within Bluetooth range, their "EHTERAZ" Apps exchange anonymized IDs for contact tracing.
