"Flora Incognita" is a free app that uses artificial intelligence to identify wild plants from a photo. It provides extensive plant profiles and lets you keep track of your plant observations on a map. The app is part of a scientific research project aimed at improving nature conservation, and the collected data is used to answer research questions related to invasive species and the effects of climate change on biotopes. "Flora Incognita" is ad-free and has an precision of over 90% for species identification. Developed by scientists from the Technical University of Ilmenau and the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry Jena, the project was awarded the Thuringian Research Award in 2020 and is an official project of the UN Decade of Biodiversity.
